A <hologram> is the recorded <wave interference> pattern used for <holographic wavefront reconstruction>. The pattern need not resemble the object. A <photographic emulsion> stores a material change produced by exposure; a digital intensity record instead requires numerical reconstruction or a device that displays the corresponding optical modulation.
