Simple Thresholding specifies strict greater-than for THRESH_BINARY; equality produces zero. Adaptive Thresholding describes local-neighborhood mean/Gaussian thresholds minus C. Only this scoped article uses the API convention; carried Binary image deliberately uses a different explicit >= rule.
