Inviscid core (source code)

= Inviscid core

An inviscid core is the part of a high-<Reynolds number> flow outside thin wall or shear layers, where <viscosity> is negligible at the retained asymptotic order. It obeys the <Euler equations for an inviscid fluid>. Its tangential velocity need not satisfy no slip at a material wall; adjoining <viscous boundary layers> supply that condition and can influence the core through displacement and pressure matching.
