Ion-channel inactivation
= Ion-channel inactivation
<Ion-channel inactivation> is loss of availability for conduction, distinct from simply closing an otherwise activatable <ion channel>. Recovery depends on channel type and <membrane potential>; incomplete recovery of <sodium>-selective <voltage-gated ion channels> contributes to a <neuronal refractory period>.
