{title2=$y_h=\sum(E-p_z)/(2E_e)$}

In a head-on lepton-proton collision with the proton along $+z$, hadronic <four-momentum conservation> gives $y_h=\sum_h(E_h-p_{zh})/(2E_e)$ and $Q_h^2=p_{T,h}^2/(1-y_h)$. With $s\simeq4E_eE_p$, the reconstructed <Bjorken scaling variable> is $x_h=Q_h^2/(sy_h)$. This is useful for <charged current> events whose final <neutrino> escapes. Initial-state radiation and unmeasured forward hadrons spoil the ideal closure.
