In a head-on lepton-proton collision with the proton along +z, hadronic four-momentum conservation gives yh=∑h(Eh−pzh)/(2Ee) and Qh2=pT,h2/(1−yh). With s≃4EeEp, the reconstructed Bjorken scaling variable is xh=Qh2/(syh). This is useful for charged current events whose final neutrino escapes. Initial-state radiation and unmeasured forward hadrons spoil the ideal closure.
