Choose cofinal ordinals αi<κ, indexed by μ=cf(κ), and set ai=∣αi∣. Then ∑iai=κ and ai+≤κ. The König theorem for cardinal numbers gives κ<∏iai+≤κμ. The estimate holds for every infinite cardinal number, regular or singular, under the usual axiom of choice convention for cardinal arithmetic.
