Line fraction estimate of phase volume ($f_V\simeq L_{\mathrm{phase}}/L$)

Estimating a phase volume fraction from the proportion of a representative line assigned to that phase. Sampling, orientation and phase identification must be appropriate. The width of a height feature on a differentially etched surface need not equal the phase intersection on the original flat section.
