Local-unitary invariance of entanglement entropy
= Local-unitary invariance of entanglement entropy
A local unitary sends a <reduced density matrix> to a unitary conjugate on the acted-on subsystem and leaves the other subsystem unchanged. Its <eigenvalues> and von Neumann entropy therefore do not change. This distinguishes a deterministic change of local basis from a selective measurement or nonunitary local filter.
