Write u=u′ and θ=−z+θ′. Dropping quadratic perturbation terms gives the Linearized Boussinesq equations
∂tu′+λz×u′+∇p′=σRaθ′z+σ∇2u′,∇⋅u′=0,
(1)
and
∂tθ′−W=∇2θ′,W=u′⋅z.
(2)
The fixed temperatures give θ′=0 at z=0,1. Impermeable stress-free boundary conditions give
W=D2W=0,Dω=0,ω=z⋅∇×u′.
