Gauss-Bonnet theorem gives the area of a curvature-−1 triangle as π−(α+β+γ). Split the regular polygon into 2n congruent right triangles. If θ is a polygon half-angle, the right-triangle identity and part (a) give
tanθ=tan(π/n)coshR1=1+r21−r2cotnπ.
(1)
The polygon area is (n−2)π−2nθ. Rewriting θ=π/2−cot−1(tanθ) yields
An(r)=2n[cot−1(1+r21−r2cotnπ)−nπ].
