A static worldline has four-velocity
uμ=(f−1/2,0,0,0).
(1)
Its four-acceleration is aμ=uν∇νuμ. The only nonzero component is
ar=Γttr(ut)2=r2M.
(2)
Taking its norm with grr=f−1 gives the proper acceleration of a static Schwarzschild observer
∣a∣=aμaμ=rst21−2M/rstM.
(3)
It points radially outward, because that is the acceleration needed to prevent the station from falling. As rst→∞ the square-root factor tends to one, and ∣a∣∼M/rst2, the Newtonian gravitational field in units G=1.
