For a bounded operator A:X→Y between Hilbert spaces, the Moore--Penrose inverse of a Hilbert-space operator is defined on
D(A†)=R(A)⊕R(A)⊥
(1)
and has range R(A†)=N(A)⊥. Its Penrose equations are
AA†A=A,A†AA†=A†,(AA†)∗=AA†,(A†A)∗=A†A.
(2)
Equivalently, A†A=PN(A)⊥ and AA† is the restriction of PR(A) to D(A†).
