Every path can change sheets only by applying the two reflections
R−(w)=−π−w,R+(w)=π−w.
(1)
Their products satisfy
R+R−(w)=w+2π,R−R+(w)=w−2π.
(2)
Thus an even number of reflections gives a translation by an integral multiple of 2π, while an odd number gives a translated reflection. All possible values are therefore
2nπ+G(z)and(2n+1)π−G(z),n∈Z,
(3)
in agreement with the branches of the complex inverse sine.
