A measure μ on (Ω,F) is σ-finite when
Ω=⋃n≥1Enwithμ(En)<∞.
(1)
The σ-finite uniqueness theorem says that two measures agreeing on a generating π-system agree on the generated σ-algebra, provided the space is covered by countably many sets in that system having finite common measure. Equivalently, a σ-finite premeasure has at most one extension to the generated σ-algebra.
