A Weyl chamber is a connected component of
E∖⋃α∈Φα⊥.
(1)
A root basis Δ⊆Φ is a vector-space basis of E such that every root is an integer combination of elements of Δ with all nonzero coefficients of one sign.
To construct one, choose a regular vector γ∈E, meaning (γ,α)=0 for every root. Declare
Φγ+={α∈Φ:(γ,α)>0}.
(2)
The positive roots in Φγ+ which cannot be written as sums of two positive roots form a root basis Δγ. Vectors γ in the same Weyl chamber give the same basis.
