Assume ∣a∣2>1, equivalently v2(a)<0, and write
a4+4=a4(1+a44).
(1)
For f(Y)=Y2−(1+4/a4) at Y=1,
v2(f(1))=v2(4/a4)=2−4v2(a)≥6>2v2(f′(1))=2.
(2)
The strong form of Hensel lemma therefore gives y∈Q2 with y2=1+4/a4. Taking X=a2y yields X2=a4+4. Hence every a with ∣a∣2>1, and in particular every sufficiently large a, works.
