A compact H-hull is a bounded relatively closed set A⊂H for which H∖A is a simply connected domain. The Riemann mapping theorem and hydrodynamic normalization at infinity give a unique mapping-out function of a compact H-hull gA:H∖A→H with
gA(z)=z+za+O(∣z∣−2).
(1)
The coefficient a≥0 is the half-plane capacity hcap(A).
For λ>0 and x∈R, uniqueness of the normalized map gives
gλA+x(z)=x+λgA(λz−x).
(2)
Substituting the expansion of gA yields
gλA+x(z)=z+z−xλ2a+O(∣z∣−2)=z+zλ2a+O(∣z∣−2).
(3)
Therefore the scaling and translation of half-plane capacity is
hcap(λA+x)=λ2hcap(A).
