Set
g=41π3(2d0+d1)>0,μ=a2(R−Rc).
(1)
The amplitude equation is A˙=μA−gA3. Its equilibria are
A=0
(2)
for every R, and, when R>Rc,
A±=±ga2(R−Rc).
(3)
For R<Rc, the zero branch is stable and every sufficiently small amplitude decays to zero. At R=Rc it loses stability. For R>Rc, zero is unstable and the two nonzero branches are stable; positive initial amplitudes approach A+ and negative ones approach A−. The bifurcation diagram is therefore a supercritical pitchfork.
