Let α=21/6=2/32. Then L=Q(α,ζ3) is the splitting field of X6−2. Eisenstein gives [Q(α):Q]=6, and adjoining nonreal ζ3 doubles it, so the degree is 12 and the extension is Galois. Valuation at a prime above 2 forces n∣6 if xn=2; conversely x=α6/n works for n=1,2,3,6.
