Complex Stone-Weierstrass requires a self-conjugate unital subalgebra separating points; apply real Stone-Weierstrass to real and imaginary parts. Finite sums f(x)g(y) form such a self-conjugate unital subalgebra of C(K×L) and separate points, so they are dense.
