Position measurement (source code)

= Position measurement

An ideal position measurement of a normalized <wavefunction> $\psi$ assigns a <probability> to each spatial region $A$ through the <Born rule>: $P(A)=\int_A|\psi(x)|^2\,dx$. This specifies outcome statistics; it does not by itself specify the <post-measurement state>. A physical detector has finite spatial resolution, which must be included in its measurement model.
