For a positive integer b=∏ipini, every rational number a/b has a unique representation a/b=n+∑iqi/pini with n∈Z and 0≤qi<pini. With Bi=b/pini, the coefficients satisfy qi≡aBi−1(modpini). Their existence and uniqueness use modular multiplicative inverses and the Chinese remainder theorem.
