A model-dependent boundary in spin-period and spin-down parameter space beyond which particle acceleration and <pair production> cannot maintain a specified radio-emission mechanism. Crossing it means loss of an emission state, not destruction of the <neutron star>. Selection and beaming obscure an exact empirical universal boundary.
