Pump power affinity law (P∝ρω3D5)

If pump power depends only on fluid mass density ρ, impeller diameter D and angular velocity ω, dimensional analysis fixes P=CPρω3D5, where CP is dimensionless. Comparing pumps with the same CP gives the displayed scaling. Geometrical or flow-regime changes can change CP; the law is not a universal comparison of arbitrary pumps.
