Every stationary subset of a successor cardinal λ+ can be partitioned into λ+ disjoint stationary subsets. For each β∈[λ,λ+) choose a bijection eβ:λ→β. For each ξ<λ+, the function β↦eβ−1(ξ) is regressive on the stationary tail with β>ξ. The Fodor lemma gives a stationary fiber with one value iξ<λ. Some value occurs for λ+ many indices, whose fibers are pairwise disjoint. Assign any leftover part of S to one fiber.
