Thermal radiation shield
= Thermal radiation shield
A <thermal radiation shield> interposes a surface to reduce radiative heat exchange between an apparatus and its surroundings. <temperature>, <emissivity> and view factors determine its effectiveness; conductive supports and gas transport remain separate heat paths. A <thermal radiation shield> is not automatically an ionizing-radiation shield.
