Uniform asymptotic approximation
= Uniform asymptotic approximation
An approximation is uniform on a specified domain when its error bound holds throughout that domain as the small parameter tends to zero. In a <matched asymptotic expansion>, adding the inner and outer approximations and subtracting their common overlap produces a composite approximation. Checking only a fixed point away from a <boundary layer> does not establish uniformity.
