Universal property of the tensor product of modules

Every balanced map $b:M\times N\to P$ factors uniquely through an $R$-module homomorphism $\tilde{b}:M{\otimes }_{R}N\to P$ satisfying $\tilde{b}(m\otimes n)=b(m,n)$.
