Ettore Majorana was an Italian theoretical physicist, known for his significant contributions to the field of quantum mechanics and particle physics. He was born on August 5, 1906, in Catania, Sicily, and he studied under prominent physicists such as Enrico Fermi. Majorana is most famous for his work on neutrino masses and for proposing the existence of Majorana fermions—particles that are their own antiparticles.
