Lower Normandy, or "Basse-Normandie" in French, is a former administrative region in northwestern France. It was created in 1956 and existed until 2016 when it was merged with Upper Normandy (Haute-Normandie) to form the new region of Normandy (Normandie). Lower Normandy comprises three departments: Calvados, Manche, and Orne.
