Marie Alfred Cornu (1821–1881) was a French physicist known primarily for his work in the field of optics and photometry. He made significant contributions to the understanding of light and its properties, including measuring optical phenomena. Cornu is perhaps best known for the development of the Cornu spiral, a graphical representation used in optics to visualize the propagation of light in a medium. His work laid foundational principles for later research in optical technology and measurement.
