Poitou-Charentes is a former administrative region in western France. It was created in 1956 and existed until the 2016 territorial reforms that led to its merger with the Aquitaine and Limousin regions to form the new region of Nouvelle-Aquitaine. Poitou-Charentes comprised four departments: Vienne, Deux-Sèvres, Charente, and Charente-Maritime.
