Simon von Stampfer (1792–1864) was an Austrian inventor and physicist best known for his work in the development of optical devices and, most notably, the invention of the stereoscope. The stereoscope is a device that allows for the perception of depth in images by presenting two slightly different perspectives of the same scene to each eye, creating a three-dimensional visual effect. This invention was significant in the advancement of photography and visual perception technologies.
