"The Chemical Basis of Morphogenesis" is a seminal work by British biologist Alan Turing, published in 1952. In this paper, Turing proposed a theoretical framework for understanding how complex patterns and structures form in biological organisms—a field of study known as morphogenesis. Turing introduced the concept of reaction-diffusion systems to explain how chemical substances, which he called "morphogens," interact to create patterns such as stripes, spots, and other forms found in nature.
