The William Lowell Putnam Mathematical Competition is an annual mathematics competition for undergraduate students in the United States and Canada. Established in 1938, it is named after William Lowell Putnam, a philanthropist who contributed to the establishment of the contest. The competition is hosted by the Mathematical Association of America (MAA) and is considered one of the most prestigious and challenging mathematics competitions for college students. The competition consists of two 3-hour sessions held on a single day.
