Geophysics journals are academic publications that focus on the study of the Earth's physical properties and processes. These journals publish research articles, reviews, and technical notes that cover various aspects of geophysics, including but not limited to: 1. **Seismology**: The study of earthquakes and the propagation of elastic waves through the Earth. 2. **Magnetism**: Research related to the Earth's magnetic field and its variations.
Geophysics awards typically recognize outstanding contributions and achievements in the field of geophysics, which involves the study of the Earth using quantitative physical methods. These awards can be given by various organizations, professional societies, and academic institutions. They may honor research, innovation, teaching, and other significant accomplishments related to geophysical sciences.
Geomagnetism refers to the study of the Earth's magnetic field, its origin, changes, and effects. The Earth's magnetic field is generated by the movement of molten iron and other metals in its outer core, which creates electric currents that, in turn, produce magnetic fields. Key aspects of geomagnetism include: 1. **Magnetic Field Characteristics**: The Earth's magnetic field resembles that of a giant bar magnet tilted about 11 degrees from the rotational axis of the Earth.
Climate variability and climate change are related concepts, but they refer to different phenomena regarding the Earth's climate system. ### Climate Variability Climate variability refers to the fluctuations in climate conditions that occur over shorter time periods, such as days, seasons, or years. This includes natural variations caused by a range of factors, including: 1. **Natural processes**: Such as volcanic eruptions, ocean currents, and atmospheric patterns (e.g., El Niño and La Niña).
Walter H. F. Smith does not appear to be a widely recognized figure based on readily available information up to October 2023. It's possible that he may be a lesser-known individual or a fictional character. If you meant a specific person or context, could you please provide more details?
Vít Kárník is not widely recognized as a public figure or entity in major historical, cultural, or scientific contexts based on the information available up to October 2023. It’s possible that he could be a lesser-known individual or a private person. If you have more context about who he is or in which field he might be relevant (e.g.
Takeshi Nagata could refer to various individuals, but one prominent figure with that name is a well-known Japanese artist or academic. Without more specific context, it’s hard to pinpoint exactly which Takeshi Nagata you are referring to. If you're looking for information on a specific Takeshi Nagata in a particular field (such as art, science, literature, etc.
Selim Lemström (1826-1898) was a Finnish engineer and inventor known for his contributions to the fields of electrical engineering and telecommunications. He is particularly recognized for his work on early telegraphy and the development of electric motors. Lemström made significant advancements in the understanding and application of electricity in various industries, helping to lay the groundwork for modern electrical engineering. In addition to his engineering work, he served in various educational and administrative roles in Finland, promoting technical education and innovation.
"Rong Zhang" could refer to various individuals or concepts depending on the context. It is a common name in Chinese-speaking regions and might pertain to a specific person, such as an academic, artist, or public figure. Without additional context, it's difficult to provide a precise answer.
Paul Segall is a geophysicist known for his work in the fields of geophysical imaging and fluid dynamics within the context of the Earth's subsurface processes. He has made significant contributions to understanding the behavior of the Earth's crust and the mechanisms of earthquakes. His research often involves the use of advanced imaging techniques to explore geological structures and resources.
It seems like there might be a bit of confusion in your question, as "Michael J. Walter" could refer to a specific individual, possibly someone who may be notable in a particular field, but as of my last training cut-off in October 2023, I don't have specific information on an individual by that name. If Michael J.
Mary Fowler is a notable geologist recognized for her contributions to the field of geology, particularly in relation to geological processes and the study of sedimentary rocks. While specific details about her work may vary, she has often been associated with research that enhances the understanding of geological formations, sediment transport, and the history of Earth's crust.
Maisa Rojas is a prominent Chilean climate scientist known for her research in climate change, atmospheric science, and its impact on ecosystems and society. She has been involved in various scientific and policy-making initiatives related to climate change and sustainability. Rojas has contributed significantly to the understanding of climate variability and its implications for agriculture and water resources in Chile and beyond. Additionally, she has held leadership roles in research institutions and has been active in promoting climate awareness and action.
Lisa Tauxe is a prominent American geophysicist known for her research in the fields of paleomagnetism and geomagnetism. She is recognized for her work on the Earth's magnetic field and its changes over geological time, as well as for her contributions to understanding the relationship between the magnetic field and plate tectonics. Tauxe has published numerous scientific papers and has been involved in educational outreach in geosciences. She has also served in various leadership roles within scientific communities.
As of my last knowledge update in October 2021, "Kelin Wang" does not refer to a widely recognized term or entity. However, it is possible that it could be a name of a person, particularly someone in academia, business, or media. Without more specific context, it is difficult to provide accurate information.
The Korean Society of Earth and Exploration Geophysicists (KSEG) is a professional organization in South Korea that focuses on the fields of geophysics and exploration geosciences. It aims to promote the advancement of geophysical research, education, and technology in Korea and beyond.
John Woodhouse is a notable geophysicist recognized for his contributions to the field, particularly in the study of seismic waves and their interactions with the Earth's structure. He has been involved in various research projects and has published extensively on topics related to geophysics, including seismic tomography and the dynamics of the Earth's interior. Woodhouse's work has implications for understanding geological processes and natural hazards such as earthquakes.
John Verhoogen is not a widely recognized public figure or concept, so there may not be much specific information readily available.
As of my last update in October 2023, I don't have any specific information about an individual named John-Michael Kendall. It's possible that he is a private individual or a relatively unknown figure, or that he gained prominence after that date.

Pinned article: Introduction to the OurBigBook Project

Welcome to the OurBigBook Project! Our goal is to create the perfect publishing platform for STEM subjects, and get university-level students to write the best free STEM tutorials ever.
Everyone is welcome to create an account and play with the site: ourbigbook.com/go/register. We belive that students themselves can write amazing tutorials, but teachers are welcome too. You can write about anything you want, it doesn't have to be STEM or even educational. Silly test content is very welcome and you won't be penalized in any way. Just keep it legal!
We have two killer features:
  1. topics: topics group articles by different users with the same title, e.g. here is the topic for the "Fundamental Theorem of Calculus" ourbigbook.com/go/topic/fundamental-theorem-of-calculus
Articles of different users are sorted by upvote within each article page. This feature is a bit like:
    • a Wikipedia where each user can have their own version of each article
    • a Q&A website like Stack Overflow, where multiple people can give their views on a given topic, and the best ones are sorted by upvote. Except you don't need to wait for someone to ask first, and any topic goes, no matter how narrow or broad
This feature makes it possible for readers to find better explanations of any topic created by other writers. And it allows writers to create an explanation in a place that readers might actually find it.

  2. local editing: you can store all your personal knowledge base content locally in a plaintext markup format that can be edited locally and published either:
This way you can be sure that even if OurBigBook.com were to go down one day (which we have no plans to do as it is quite cheap to host!), your content will still be perfectly readable as a static site.
