Centrifugal governor

ID: centrifugal-governor

A mechanism in which rotating weights move outward as angular speed increases, allowing their displacement to indicate or regulate a machine's speed. The steady configuration follows the balance of actual applied forces and centripetal acceleration, or equivalently of applied forces and centrifugal force in a rotating reference frame. Geometry and the restoring mechanism determine the speed-displacement relation.
A centrifugal governor is a type of automatic mechanical device used to regulate the speed of an engine or other machinery. Its primary function is to maintain a constant speed by adjusting the fuel supply or energy input based on the load and speed of the machine. ### Key Features and Components: 1. **Centrifugal Force**: The governor operates based on the principles of centrifugal force.
