A four-dimensional N=1 chiral multiplet consists off shell of a complex scalar , a Weyl fermion , and a complex auxiliary scalar . A chiral superfield packages their supersymmetry transformations. Eliminating the auxiliary scalar leaves two bosonic and two fermionic physical polarizations; an allowed supersymmetric mass gives equal scalar and fermion masses.
