 Completeness forces orthogonality of measurement projections

Let self-adjoint orthogonal projections $P_i$ sum to the identity. For $v$ in the range of $P_j$,The $j$th term already equals $\Vert v{\Vert }^2$, so $P_{i}v=0$ for every $i\ne j$. Hence $P_i{P}_j=P_j{P}_i=0$ and the projective measurement operators commute.
