 de Broglie hypothesis

A material particle carries a quantum phase whose wave vector and angular frequency obey $\mathbf{p}=\hslash \mathbf{k}$ and $E=\hslash \omega$. Interference and diffraction test this relation; a localized particle requires a wave packet.
