A fusion energy-balance requirement on density, confinement time and temperature under a stated loss and reaction model. A numerical density-time threshold is conditional on fuel and temperature; it must not be silently identified with an alpha-stopping areal-density threshold.
The Lawson criterion is a condition for achieving net positive energy from nuclear fusion reactions. It provides a threshold for the product of the particle density, temperature, and confinement time of a plasma in which fusion reactions occur.
