 Lipid bilayer nanodisc

A lipid bilayer nanodisc is a small bilayer patch stabilized at its edge, often by a surrounding scaffold. It permits controlled lipid composition and study of membrane-associated proteins, while lacking the two separately sealed aqueous compartments of a closed lipid vesicle.
