Monolithic galaxy formation
ID: monolithic-galaxy-formation
Monolithic galaxy formation idealizes a galaxy as forming in one early rapid dissipative collapse, followed mainly by passive evolution. Rapid formation of the stars is distinct from early assembly of all those stars into their final object; hierarchical galaxy formation can assemble old stellar populations later.
