 Nonrelativistic particle

A massive particle is nonrelativistic when its speed is small compared with the speed of light. Its energy expansion is $E=m{c}^2+p^2/(2m)+O(p^4/(m^3{c}^2))$. The leading momentum-dependent term is the classical kinetic energy.
