For radial motion between turning radii

and

in a central potential, the radial action per unit mass is

J_{r} = \frac{1}{π} \int_{r_{-}}^{r_{+}} 2 [E - Φ (r)] - \frac{L ^{2}}{r ^{2}} d r .

It vanishes on a circular orbit and is canonically conjugate to the radial angle.
