 Rotational angular momentum

The angular momentum associated with end-over-end molecular rotation. In an open-shell diatomic molecule it is useful to distinguish $\mathbf{N}$ from the total $\mathbf{J}=\mathbf{N}+\mathbf{S}$, which also contains the electronic spin angular momentum.
