 Scalar spin-spin coupling

Through-bond interaction between nuclear spins that splits NMR resonances. In the weak-coupling limit, $n$ equivalent spin-$\frac{1}{2}$ neighbours produce $n+1$ lines with binomial coefficient intensities. Equivalent nuclei do not split each other.
