 Tidal bridges and tails

Extended stellar structures drawn out by time-dependent gravitational interactions between galaxies. Close, prograde encounters can coherently perturb rotating discs. Restricted particle calculations demonstrate that the structures need not be evidence of direct star-star impacts.^[ref]
