An experimental contributor to the Super-Kamiokande measurement of atmospheric neutrinos. The team found that the observed muon-neutrino population depended on arrival direction, hence on distance traveled through or around Earth. This path-length dependence supplied evidence for neutrino oscillations, connecting an underground particle detector with changes in neutrino flavor during propagation.[ref]
